Hello parents and guardians. The end of the school year is quickly approaching. Saying the spring semester has been challenging and difficult, I think is an understatement for all of us. I don't think words can fully express the impact that COVID-19 has had on our lives. Our lives will be forever changed. But, we have managed to get through this spring semester in spite of COVID-19 and we've gotten through this spring semester by supporting one another, I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated through this unfamiliar territory. Your patience, your understanding, and your support will definitely be needed as we plan for what school is going to look like whenever we return in the fall. Please parents and guardians, embrace yourselves; because it is going to be much different than what we've been accustomed to. Last week we provided provided 4,868  grab-and-go meals. Want to remind parents to turn in academic packets. We've extended the deadline for those academic packets to be turned in May 22nd, 2020, so you have until Friday of this week to turn in those academic packets. The one half credit courses for scholars in grades 9 - 11, those packets must be submitted by May 26th, 2020.  Parents, if you do not want your child to receive that one half credit, your child will be removed from that course. So you should email Mrs. Juanita Steptoe, at steptoej steptoej@mccomb.k12.ms.us. and Ms. Karmen Butler at butlerk@mccomb.k12.ms.us. Please also for documentation purposes, send correspondence to your School Status account as well. Tomorrow is a very, very exciting day for us in McComb School District because it is graduation. It's very exciting for us this year because it is a virtual graduation; the first virtual graduation that McComb High School has had. As a result of COVID-19, we had to do something very special for our graduates. So tomorrow at 7 p.m. please tune include into our district Facebook page, our district YouTube page, and also you can tune into cable's SparkLight to view our graduation ceremony for our graudates. Community members, McComb community, please show show your support for these 2020 graduates by tuning into that graduation ceremony. We will also post those links of how you can access the graduation ceremony on our website and our Facebook page. Graduates, you can pick up your diplomas and other graduation material for May 26th and 27th from 10:00 - 2:00 on Louisiana Avenue near the JROTC building. You must also You must also course turn in your cap and gown. All graduates must turn in their cap and gown, this is no exception. Parents, over the next week we will be providing you with valuable information regarding our summer learning. Please be responsive to principals when they contact you regarding your scholar participating in our summer learning program. You will also be receiving correspondence regarding the distribution of athletic awards so please be on the lookout for that. Continue to check your School Status accounts because we will be communicating with you through School Status; we'll be doing out callouts, our website, Facebook pages; but make sure you check your School Status accounts frequently because that's one method that we will use to communicate with you. I want to remind you also that it's very important to complete the 2020 census information. Due to COVID-19, Due to COVID-19, the deadline for the census information has been extended to October 31st, 2020. Parents, it's very important that you complete the census because, because there is funding tied to that census for our community. So please complete, complete that census and we will have information on our Facebook page, our website, regarding how you can complete that information. I would like to close today by just again, thanking you for your patience, thanking you for your support during the time and until next week I want to ask and encourage you to please remain safe. And please, tune into our live graduation ceremony tomorrow to honor our graduates of 2020. Thank you very much and have a wonderful day.
