The 21^st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC), After-school Programs of the McComb School District, McComb, Mississippi, are open to students enrolled in the McComb School District. The program offers academic, STEM, STEAM, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities to students and their families during non-school hours, before school, after school, and during summer recess. Activities vary from site to site. Our academic enrichment opportunities aim to meet state and district performance standards in core academic subjects such as reading and math. Students are given healthy snacks/meals each day before activities begin. Communication between parents and the after-school staff is an important part of the program.

21ST CCLC OPERATION

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers coincides with the McComb School District calendar and does not operate on school holidays or vacations. However, a summer program is offered. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather or some other unforseen circumstance, the program will also be cancelled. Notifications will be made through the school's standard procedure.

After school programs can alleviate child care and safety worries of working parents

21ST CCLC "PLACES OF PROMISE"

Provide safe, challenging, engaging and fun learning experiences to help children and youth develop their social, emotional, physical, cultural and academic skills
Work in collaboration with schools and community resources to offer children and youth an array of accessible and diverse services and opportunities
Promote positive relationships among children, youth, family and adults
Engage children, youth, families, school and community partners in ongoing design, implementation and evaluation of activities
Invest in a diverse, skilled and committed staff
All sites offer morning tutorial from 7:00am until 7:45am
All sites have extended library hours Monday, Wednesday and Thursday both before and after school
