Hello parents and Guardians. During this time it's very important that we communicate, communicate, communicate and I will do my best to communicate with you regarding what's happening with McComb School District with providing instruction for your scholars during this crisis. Since our last conversation Mayor Lockley has issued an executive order. It is my hope that you are adhering to that executive order and make sure that the scholars adhere to that executive order as well. The executive order that Mayor Lockley put in place, that executive order is merely to keep us safe. So please ensure that you adhere to that executive order. One of the things I want to do is that I want to also provide you with updates. First I want to update you on our grab and go meal delivery situation. That is going well right now at both of our sites and our bus delivered meals are going well also. Last week we fed 4,859 children with meals. We are very happy that at this time we can provide those scholars with meals because we know that it is very important. By now you should have received or picked up the second round of academic packets. If you have not picked up those academic packets, you can pick them up on the bus ramp of McComb High School anytime during the day. Parents, I want to make sure that you make sure that your scholars complete those academic packets in their entirety because they will be used to calculate 4th nine weeks grades and they can also be utilized for promotion so make sure your scholars keep those academic packages in a safe place and return those academic packets whenever school resumes. I want to talk to you about graduation because I know that may be a concern for many of our seniors and their parents. Any senior who has acquired the minimum number of credits that's specified by the Mississippi Department of Education, they will be allowed to graduate. Once we return to school, any senior who needs credit for a half credit-bearing course, we will provide that student with that work through an academic packet so that that student will receive credit for that half-credit bearing course. If you have any questions regarding graduation and the seniors please email Principal Robert Lamkin at lamkinr @mccomb .k12.ms.us and also copy our curriculum director, Ms. Louise Sanders, at sandersl@ mccomb.k12.ms.us. Regarding promotion, our schools are closed right now through April 17th; if in the event that there is an extended school closure, we will have another one of these sessions so that I can tell you what we will be doing regarding promotion for our scholars. So parents, I can't stress enough that it is very important that your scholars complete those academic packets. Make sure that they complete those academic packets. I know that during this time, this is a difficult time for all of us. It's a difficult time for scholars; there's also a difficult time for parents. So what we've done is that we have put in place a social emotional support portion on our website that should be up and running by tomorrow morning so will you please visit our website tomorrow to see those videos that we have for elementary students, middle school students, and high school students to provide them with the social emotional support pieces that they need during this crisis. We will continue to try to keep you updated on what's happening around social media sites, through our website and will also do call outs. Parents, I can't stress enough, please be safe during this time. Please follow the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control; the guidelines from Mississippi State Department of Health; any executive orders that may come from our governor or our mayors. This is merely to keep us safe. We want to see all of our scholars again. We want all of our parents and their families to be safe during this crisis.
