Health Services - Margaret Hart, R.N., Director

Our Nurses  Healthy children are successful learners. The Health Services programs here at McComb School District are designed to appraise, protect, and promote the health of our students and staff. Nurses in the district begin their year assessing student health status in grades K-12. This service is provided to identify and manage barriers to student learning such as visual or hearing deficiencies, unidentified scoliosis, or high blood pressure. If problems are suspected, nurses contact parents to refer the student for appropriate health care. In the health suites, clinic hours are set aside for the nurses to see students and staff for illness, administer student medications required during school hours, and monitor students with chronic illness. Emergency care is provided as well. Throughout the school year, the nurses serve in multifaceted roles such as preventing and controlling communicable disease and other health problems, assuring immunization compliance, education in the classroom, and serving on teacher support teams. The goal for the McComb School District's health service program is to positively impact the academic success of our students by keeping them healthy and in school.
